BR17: New Yorkers: Short Stories

I read "New Yorkers: Short Stories". The book has five short stories. The stories are so interesting. Especially, I like the first story, The Christmas Presents. This is a poor couple's story. Della had beautiful hair, but she cut it off to buy his Christmas present. She choose a gold chain for his watch. Her boyfriend, Jim, gave her the combs for her beautiful hair. To buy it, he sold his watch. I thought they are a great couple because they sell their treasures to buy presents for each other. I long for their relation.

BR16: The Double Bass Mystery

'My double bass? What's wrong with my double bass?' (p. 5)

 I read "The Double Bass Mystery". The book is so interesting for me. One day, Penny Wade went to Barcelona for their performance. She had the concert for the first time, but her double bass was not there. Her senior was sorry about her, so he made her to play his double bass instead of him. She could play it. After that, there was a murder. The killed man was Frank who was orchestra manager. Why is he killed? Who did? During reading, I was excited! Also, I had a mystery point. It was the reason her double bass had disappeared from the truck. When I knew the truth, I was surprised. Also, I was happy that she can find her double bass.

BR15: Dead Cold

'She was there on a skiing vacation with some friends from college. Someone found her in the swimming pool at the hotel where she was staying.' (p. 8)

 I read "Dead Cold". When I watched the title of the book, I guessed someone is frozen or is caught in an avalanche. But, a girl was found in the swimming pool. I thought why she was killed there. The main character is a new detective. For her, the murder is for the first time. She went to many place and made an inquiry. Finally, she arrived at the true criminal and met the guy. It was so dangerous, but she confronted it. I thought she is so strong. if I were her, I am so scare that I couldn't do anything.

BR14: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

Tom was very afraid, but Injun Joe was afraid too, and he quickly ran away down the tunnel. (p. 36)

 I read "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" for the first time. Before I read it, I thought the story is similar to 'Never land'. But, it was wrong. I was surprised at this story. Tom watched the scene that some men had a fight and one of them was dead. And then, Tom was afraid of the killer and he hoped the killer was caught. If I were in his place, I would be so afraid of the murder and I couldn't leave home. Tom is brave. I want to calm down like him when I get involved in trouble.

BR13: Bad Company

'it's murder,'he said. 'Someone hit her on the back of the head. It killed her.' (p.8)

 I read "Bad Company". The story have many characters, so I confused who was who. One day, a woman's corpse was found on the beach. After the legwork, police narrow four people. However, all of four people have inducement. I thought it is difficult for police to find the true murder. the police only had a look and saw the body through in everything, killing method and the death time. I could gradually see the truth and I was excited.

BR12: Logan's Choice

'Was this murder or not?' (p.12)

 I read "Logan's Choice". This is suspense story. So, I was excited while reading the book because the story gradually comes close to the truth of the murder. At first, I thought that Alex's wife is murder because there was nobody except her in the house. But, I was wrong. The murder was  his friend not her. Alex and his friend were arguing about their share of the property. I thought when money affects it, the person change. I understood his inducement, but how did he kill Alex? He was formerly a solider, and he could climb up the wall and into his bathroom. I never thought of that. The inspector is so great!
